Ananda Chico periodically hosts in-person Sunday Services led by an Ananda Minister. At other times, our center watches Services on-line from other Ananda communities. All are welcome to join us whenever these are scheduled. Please check our Calendar or contact us for more information about when these are available.
Our Sunday Service is a non-sectarian worship service based on the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda, author of the spiritual classic, Autobiography of a Yogi. People of all traditions are welcome.
Purification Ceremony, 10:00 – 10:30 AM
The purification ceremony is a personal fire ceremony that involves writing a problem or a negative trait on a slip of paper. After a brief meditation, we come up to the altar one at a time to pray for purification. We ask for God’s grace, then light our paper and watch the negative in our lives burn into ashes. Afterwards, we sit and continue to meditate, feeling the power of purification. We also pray for others as they go to the altar to be purified.
When we have a visiting Ananda Lightbearer, we go up to the Lightbearer to pray and be blessed first, before going up to the altar and offering our prayer into the burning bowl. On special occasions, we include a vedic fire ceremony with ancient chants and special purification offerings.
Sunday Service 10:30 – 11:30 am
Our service includes:
Meditation and prayer
Devotional chanting
Affirmation
A reading from the Bible and the Bhagavad Gita

Healing Prayers
From time to time, we host visiting ministers from Ananda Village or other Ananda communities. On these occasions we also include a special ceremony called a Festival of Light from 11:30-12:00.
We are a friendly group of people, and our service is intimate and casual.
Please join us for an inspirational and meditative worship experience, and stay afterwards for tea, snacks, or a potluck.
